Social Networking

Social Networking sites can be used in many ways; they can help the user keep truck on other individual;s (friends). It can also help people meet other people (J date). It helps company's to interact with their employee and help their employee interact internally and externally.
Social Networking sites also help you increase the circle of connections and your ability to find a wide range of solution's within this network. Social Networking can also spread information good and bad such as the one on Comcast episode or AOL episode. Both are not only a rout to frustration but also a way to show what is out there.
The dark side-
Like the first video "Facebook in the Real World" sarcastically shows what will happen if facebook was part of the real world. On the world of computers you can ignore without feeling the consequences. In the real life one can face real choices. Many of us don't know, that by leaving information online can "provides opportunities not only for legitimate business purposes, but also for the nefarious aims of identity thieves and other predators, according to faculty at Wharton and elsewhere"(Leaving 'Friendprints': How Online Social Networks Are Redefining Privacy and Personal Security). On another note students are now taking advantage of social networking sites to gossip. In the article "They're Back, and They're Bad: Campus-Gossip Web Sites" the auteur suggest a growing problem where student are picking at each-other; such a These Fellas got herpes list.

I think that in the nearest future we will find new ways to use these technologies for our benefit. We will also (unfortunately)will find usage to the same technologies that would heart people. These technologies are also going to bring us to less human interaction ( which I am deeply regretting for) and less real friends in the lives of the children of tomorrow. The above technologies will also affect area in life that we are not aware of such as language; It appears that in the article "Dictionary word of the year: 'Unfriend'" there is a growing usage of the this word as it relates to Face book and other social network sites. Or even how in Delhi, the Police Use Face book to Track Scofflaw Drivers. These examples make me wonder if we can really measure the affects of such technologies.
