I called a friend of mine and asked him to get me “The Social Network” movie. “For what?” he asked. “I just need it –no questions asked” I replied. The next day I had a CD waiting on my desk with a note saying “Real friends’ are not found on Facebook”
The movie starts in rapid conversation between Mark Zuckerberg and a girl he so madly wants to be wit h- Erica. She become his ex right after this conversation. Throughout the growth of Facebook Mark is obsessed with her and it seems like he just cant let go. This breaks up set up a chain of events that somehow lead to Facebook. It starts by Mark Zuckerberg building a "FaceMash" page that spreads so rapidly, it crashed Harverd University server with over 22,000 people connecting to the system at the same time. Then, an imaginary line is drawn next to the original story. Mark Zuckerberg life is now in Harvard, but the other line is in the future. The future takes place in a law office where depositions are been taken in two lawsuits- One by his friend and the co-founder of Facebook and a second lawsuit by three guys that claim he stole the idea. Back to Harvard- After the creation of "FaceMash" Mark is punished with six months of academic probation. Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, of Harvard's rowing team, and Divya Narendra are looking for a web programmer to establish a website (very simillar to Facebook) called Harvard Connection. But Mark takes the idea and improves it to what’s going to be called Thefacebook. His friend Eduardo was invited to be a part of this new idea for 35% equity. Cameron Winklevoss , Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra think that Mark stole their idea while at the same time stalling on their website. In the meantime Thefacebook is taking off outside of Harvard to other schools. The twins from Harvard arrange a meeting with Harvard President asking him to take action against Mark because he broke the ethic code of Harvard. He dismisses them and see no real ground for disciplinary action. Eduardo and Mark arrange a meeting with Napster founder Sean Parker. They all meet in a restaurant for a drinks and dinner. At the end of the dinner Parker picks up the bill and leave, not before he suggests that they drop "The" from Thefacebook to make it “cleaner”. He calls it "Facebook". He also suggests they should move to California “ where everything happens”. Mark takes his advise and moves the company's operation to Palo Alto, after Eduardo put another $18,000 in an account towards the company expanses. Eduardo remains in New York looking for advertising investments. One day Eduardo comes for a visit from New York, he finds that Parker is living at the house and making business decisions for Facebook. He is furious. After an argument with Mark, Eduardo freezes the company's bank account and returns to New York. When he gets back, he receives a phone call from Mark telling him they have secured money from an angel investor($500,000). Mark asks him to come back which he agrees to. Eduardo comes back and signs some documents for the new angel investor. He later discovered the deal he signed allows them to dilute his share of the company from thirty-four percent to three hundredths of a percent, while maintaining the ownership percentage of all other parties. He confronts Mark (his best friend) and announces his intention to sue him saying “you better get lawyer up”. The movie ends with mark offering an intern to grab something to eat. She refuses. Later he asks her if he is an asshole. She replies by saying “you are not an asshole, but you are trying very hard to be one.” She then leaves the room while Mark sends a friend request to his former girlfriend Erica on Facebook, and refreshing the page every few seconds waiting for approval”. A MUST SEE !
Thank you –my friend

The Next New Thing
My sugesstion for a new app that can be used for both on phones and on buildings.
The app will consisted of address bar. When insert and address it can show the user historical information about the building. This app can also be used near landmark building. A hologram projector can project a image of an host that will give details about the building. It can also suggests changes that were made through out history.
This application will be very attractive to visitors from all over the world. It can first be tested in most visited citys such as NYC, London, France. The model is relatively simple and can be extended to monument attraction or other popular sites.

Our Class Wiki - So Far
In the wiki Marketing and Advertising using New Media I added two sections:Scholarly Articles and New Media In Business- Real Stories. Scholarly Articles tried to give its viewer a pic to some of the research that is done behind the scene of marketing and new media. It also offered a retrospect to what was the traditional way of marketing before new media came along. At last it suggested some real insight to the relationship within marketing and the aspect of gaining competitive advantage through customer satisfaction and customer retention. The second addition New Media In Business- Real Stories tried to follow up on new usage of new media as well as old usage that are been turn around (i.e Twitter).
In our wiki class section I added my bio, pictures a link to my blog and Twitter as well as my term project focused- The Effects of New Media Websites On Social Interaction .

About My Term Research Paper
Because of the growing rate of New media websites in all shapes and forms as well as the raise of technology that carries instruments such as smart phones, PDA, computer tablets, I decided to explore social interaction within these parameters. It seems to me that our society was missing the charm of face to face interaction, when choosing to grant importance to such communication methods. It also surprised me that although the voice of the public can clearly be heard on various topics and on different new media websites, individuals select to post anonymously. The research was done using over ten scholarly articles covering internet and social interaction as well as psychological analysis and technological determinism. The overview described new media websites, why are we attract to them, constant relationships and the effects on our society. It conclude, that as technology evolves and applications can, and are made available to users at home as well as on the go, more users will spend additional time on New Media sites such as Facebook or blogs. These sites conveniently fulfill all social needs requirements and are in fact serving as a voice to who we are. New media web sites also retort our basic needs of curiosity, intellect of discovery, sense of safety, and belonging, as well as a new form for social interaction. The relationships that maintained or build during these simultaneously or consecutively tend to believe that face to face interaction is an objective and not a phase. Thus, relationship through these web sites can either be a tool to continue present social relationship or an instigator to new relationships that could not succeed without the element of face to face communication.Only time will tell what will be the consequences of our present selections, but in the race for the new and advance, I wonder if will ever stop to determine these costs.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Many new media websites contain part or parts in relation to privacy and confidentiality. In Facebook for example one can opt out from certain personal information to be shown to the general public. Facebook now offer the degree of privacy in which one can chose to reveal his or her information to just friends or to everyone. The degree of disclose is also refer to what date you want to unveil - just your posts, only you privet information etc. Another side of privacy and confidentiality can appear on “privacy” tab. It usually suggests the terms and condition in which the website will release privet information such as date of birth, address and even comments. As coloration between individuals through new media website increases there will be a growing concern for privacy and as a spill over affect for confidentiality.
Advice to Baruch College
I would suggest the use of new media in several of forms; first I would create an app for Baruch College. The app will include a personal class schedule, emergency notification, registration sessions and even a complaint board. On a later stage of the process I would ask the Newman library to participate in offering more services through the app such as statues of available books, laptops on hand, and even study rooms’ vacancies. One can easily change the structure of this app to fit one own personal needs. I would also create a Youtube form website where business student can post videos of their idea and seek funding from investors who want to farther explore these proposals. This website will also be legally protected by the college.

Check Out Social Networking Sites
I visited some social networking sites which I am also a member. I chose to cover them not only because I know them but also because each have a different purpose. Surprisingly enough they are all social networking sites. Starting with facebook; the interaction is fairly simple. Loading a picture interact with friend (after you approve them) and keep tract of you “friends”. It seemed to me that most of the people I approve as friends are not really my friends. They are people I like to be in touch with on my own terms- when I want to. And this I believe is the all essence of Facebook- keep in touch with friends through pictures, chats, messages and other when you the user want to. Twitter on the other hand has different interaction. Say everything you want in 140 characters (apparently if you want to say something you have to chose your words very carefully) . And your followers can listen to what you want to say. Business also uses it to get closer to their customers. It allows counsomer to voice their opinion to senior management without the usual bureaucracy. The next one on my list is Yelp. Great business idea. If you visited a business and had an experience you would like to share then go head and post it. I wish it was that easy. First you registered as a member ( yes you can be denied). Part of the registration requires you to give your email which give yelp the right to send you a lot of emails. In the business point of view its cost about $350 for the basics program and a little over 400 for other high level programs. And yes, you can eliminate bad reviews. After all you are paying for the service. If you chose not to pay then you (as a business) might find yourself having bad reviews for years to come. And no matter how hard to work to correct the problem, it would never be erased. The last one is one of my favorite Skype or MSN Messenger both with a very similar concept. Talk, chat, video chat or even play games, with members that are signed in. My brother leaves in Australia and this is one of the best way to communicate. The interface is easy there are almost no rules and you don’t have to expose yourself to an extent you don’t want to. Very reliable system and go great if you have a video camera.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds
These virtual worlds have many different usages; they can serve as entertainment such as presented in "The Office"'s foray into SecondLife" video. Or as a learning experience; showing individuals how to navigate through certain profession in ways of virtual world. On the same video there is a hint of fostering corroboration as a means to get goals. Consider the following, a large group can exchange idea and agree on certain issues. The virtual world can give them the platform to make these change happened even if they are outside the virtual world. In the article "At Hearing, Real and Virtual Worlds Collide" we can see such celebration, in which the two worlds can contribute to one another. The toy industry is also looking for new
ways to to combine the two worlds. In "Toys with a Second Life" article many toys found themselves moving back and forth from real world to online.
The pros are that you can do almost anything with second life. ou can be anyone you want with no real consonances. Releasing your deepest inhibitions. But here come the cons; By releasing these inhibitions you might get confuse as for what is right and wrong. The out side world may become your second reality and vice-versa. And that the thing since creativity is so unleashed and like in the second video: "A Second Life on Second Life" where there you can be underwater and fly- then it become to creative. As for virtual world future, I think it is unavoidable that the two world that are currently parallel to eachother will eventually collide. As we become more sophisticated and technology become more advance, one cannot wonder where will the line cross ?

Social Networking
Social Networking sites can be used in many ways; they can help the user keep truck on other individual;s (friends). It can also help people meet other people (J date). It helps company's to interact with their employee and help their employee interact internally and externally.
Social Networking sites also help you increase the circle of connections and your ability to find a wide range of solution's within this network. Social Networking can also spread information good and bad such as the one on Comcast episode or AOL episode. Both are not only a rout to frustration but also a way to show what is out there.
The dark side-
Like the first video "Facebook in the Real World" sarcastically shows what will happen if facebook was part of the real world. On the world of computers you can ignore without feeling the consequences. In the real life one can face real choices. Many of us don't know, that by leaving information online can "provides opportunities not only for legitimate business purposes, but also for the nefarious aims of identity thieves and other predators, according to faculty at Wharton and elsewhere"(Leaving 'Friendprints': How Online Social Networks Are Redefining Privacy and Personal Security). On another note students are now taking advantage of social networking sites to gossip. In the article "They're Back, and They're Bad: Campus-Gossip Web Sites" the auteur suggest a growing problem where student are picking at each-other; such a These Fellas got herpes list.
I think that in the nearest future we will find new ways to use these technologies for our benefit. We will also (unfortunately)will find usage to the same technologies that would heart people. These technologies are also going to bring us to less human interaction ( which I am deeply regretting for) and less real friends in the lives of the children of tomorrow. The above technologies will also affect area in life that we are not aware of such as language; It appears that in the article "Dictionary word of the year: 'Unfriend'" there is a growing usage of the this word as it relates to Face book and other social network sites. Or even how in Delhi, the Police Use Face book to Track Scofflaw Drivers. These examples make me wonder if we can really measure the affects of such technologies.

My New Media Class - So Far
In this New Media class, I managed to understand what New Media is all about. I also succeeded in opening my personal Blackboard page ( who know you can do that). I also created a new blog and customize it to my own preference. As for the Baruch New Media wiki page: I added my name to our class and posted a link to my blog. I also did minor modification to "marketing and advertising using new media" such as opened a new tab called Scholarly Articles. this type of learning is very interesting, but I feel i missing personal interaction like in a class room setting. Also It is very hard for me to keep track on the assignments and when they are due. There is no real reminders and I fell I cant be constantly on top of it. I already missed two assignments that I can go back and work on- sorry.

The effects of New Media websites on social interaction
In order to scrutinize the implications of new media on social interaction and personal relationships, one must first examine the definition of new media. According to PC magazine new media is the concept that new methods of communicating in the digital world allow smaller groups of people to congregate online and share, sell and swap goods and information. It also allows more people to have a voice in their community and in the world in general. As technology evolves and new media websites such as blogs, Face-book, and Wiki’s are emerging every other day, one cannot stop wondering what price society pays by improving its ways of communication? Is our demand for better and faster technology coming at a great cost, by weakening and eventually the eliminating of our face to face interaction? What consequences and implications will such a scenario have on our Network Capital? Are we a society that is on the verge of anomie? In the following research, I will try to demonstrate the relationship between New Media social interaction. The investigation will pay attention to the services that such websites offer as well as the needs that they so conveniently satisfy. I will also examine the significance of face to face interaction between individuals and society as a whole. Research done on the subject will be highlighted to draw my conclusions.
